Position Summary::

This position provides courteous and knowledgeable service to lab users and ensures lab equipment is working properly by troubleshooting and reporting problems to the supervisor. Incumbents maintain familiarity with the various programs and technology being used in the lab and adhere to lab and college procedures. They are also responsible for managing lab reservations and lending equipment.

Staff Required Education/Experience::

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), and six (6) months of clerical, customer service, or office experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

• Modern office procedures, me thods, and equipment;
• Basic filing and record-keeping principles;

Duty and Responsibility::

1. Provides courteous and knowledgeable service to lab users and manages calendar of
scheduled classes as needed.

Performs a wide range of library circulation activities, which includes: assisting and training patrons, student workers, faculty, and staff in finding print and electronic resources; ascertaining and responding to patron’s needs; searching for and pulling materials from shelves for patrons; processing incoming and outgoing library materials; creating and updating patron records; placing materials on hold; communicating library policies and procedures; and/or performing related activities.

7. Provides support for the department, which may include processing monies, ordering materials, obtaining payments for fines; preparing and disseminating notifications of overdue items.

8. Answer routine reference inquiries, and refer patrons needing further assistance to librarians.

9. Participates in ordering and maintaining library materials, which may include: assisting in determining materials to discard; processing purchased and donated materials; ordering supplies and cataloging materials; and performing related activities.

The college's New and Expanding Industry Training office has earned national recognition for cooperative training efforts with area industries. Focused Industrial Training designs innovative educational programs for the service region's manufacturing sector.

An important function of the college is to provide educational programs on the pre-college level. Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
