The Manager, Enterprise Business Analyst (EBA) is positioned within the Strategic Planning, Implementation, and Education Services Department. While this team is positioned within the Information Technology division at NAU, the Enterprise Business Analyst team was created to support NAU’s Data Trustees on strategic, university-wide initiatives. The EBA Manager will work closely with the Strategic Planning, Implementation and Education Services (SPIES) Director and Assistant Director, in developing business cases for strategic initiatives, managing team resources for allocation on prioritized projects, and providing strong leadership around business analyst best practices.

Supervises, oversees, leads, manages, and motivates team members. Delegates analyst work to team members as appropriate and reviews deliverables to ensure best practices are followed. Conducts regular performance reviews and clearly communicates goals and expectations.
Collaborates with the Director and Assistant Director of the SPIES department on building out the Enterprise Portfolio, including the development of business cases for presentation to the Data Trustees for prioritization and assessment.
Develops, maintains, and manages productive partnerships with key stakeholders across the institution, on behalf of the Enterprise Business Analyst (EBA) team and NAU’s Data Trustees. Participates on related campus committees and support groups, including the Strategic Project Review and Resourcing Committee (SPPRC).
Leads analysis and design sessions to document existing cross-divisional business processes, and/or create new business processes in support of strategic projects and objectives.
Leads workshops, elicits requirements, documents and manages business deliverables, capabilities, and functional requirements on prioritized university and cross-divisional initiatives. Works with business representatives to design, develop, and improve processes and applications through process improvement methodologies. Ensures application(s) capabilities and design meet intended business needs.
Establishes business analyst best practices within EBA team (preferably following BABOK and other relevant industry standards); Develops core templates for use by both internal and external teams.
Leads analysis and design sessions aimed at documenting existing cross-divisional business processes, and/or creating new business processes in support of strategic projects and objectives.
Identifies opportunities to leverage technology and automation to drive efficiency, effectiveness, data quality, and productivity. Works with business partners to understand their needs and collaborate with them to develop solutions, innovate, and improve. Helps identify, promote, and drive activities that will reduce technical debt.
Identifies business risk factors associated with assigned initiatives, working with senior leadership and business representatives on overall risk acceptance. Reviews the need for security, continuity of operating plans, and other risk mitigations to ensure consistency, efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the institutions.
Provides hands-on project management on cross-divisional, complex, and/or at-risk projects as assigned, leveraging project management best practices, templates, and established business processes when central PMO resources are unavailable.
Supports and implements “people-focused” change management best practices following the ProSci methodology adopted by the university.
On-call duties may be required for this position.
