Academic Affairs Coordinator,  Honors and Scholars Programs
Full-time, Exempt position, Market Range 07

The Academic Affairs Coordinator is a critical member of the Honors and Scholars team at the University of Tennessee, which manages all four university-wide programs while serving as a leader of honors efforts university-wide. This position works within the Academic Affairs unit of Honors & Scholars: manages academic processes, oversees curricular functions of the Chancellor's Honors Program (CHP), and coaches students in Honors & Scholars on research, capstone, and thesis experiences.

Position’s responsibilities:

Management of select academic processes for Honors & Scholars Programs:

-develop and manage processes for honors capstone or thesis project

-liaise with University Libraries staff on public hosting of completed projects

-recruit faculty for and oversee implementation of CHP general education course offerings

-recruit faculty partners for student research fellowships and oversee selection process of student participants

-develop and manage internal grants for students (travel and research) including oversight of grant review committee and disbursal processes in partnership with the Office of Financial Aid

 

Provide honors coaching to upper-division CHP students regarding leadership experiences/capstone:

- work with students on individualized plans for completing thesis/capstone

- explore creative ways to deliver services to students with varying needs (i.e. one-on-one meetings, group meetings, workshops, virtual options)

- document coaching records in university and departmental software

 

Honors research support:

- Coordinate and communicate undergraduate research resources for honors students; liaise with the Office of Undergraduate Research

 

Represent unit on university committees; support Honors & Scholars Programs initiatives; liaise with Student Engagement team

 

 



Qualifications
Master’s Degree

Required: Two years' experience in university academic affairs; research experience.

Preferred: Three years' experience in university academic affairs; experience working with high achieving students.
