Parking Enforcement Officer - Parking Services (4 positions available)

Regular Full-time, Market Range 02

 

Enforcement officers are front line ambassadors for the department and the university and maintain the orderly and safe use of parking resources on campus through educational and enforcement activities.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

• Accurately Issue citations to vehicles parked in violation of University of Tennessee parking regulations.

• Immobilize and/or tow vehicles as warranted.

• Use hand-held computer units to check for counterfeit, lost, or stolen permits.

• Use two way radio to communicate with departmental personnel

• Operate UT Vehicle

• Serve as an ambassador for campus when interacting and assisting customers and the general public

• Perform and record vacancy counts for evaluation of parking utilization.

• Evaluate condition of parking lots. Report maintenance needs.

• Direct traffic and assist with special events as needed.
• Recommend improvements to parking procedures and operations as related to area of responsibility

• Properly care for and maintain equipment used.



Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:

High school diploma or GED required.

Vocational or technical training is preferred.

Required level/type of experience:

Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to independently handle a situation with an irate customer without escalating the conflict.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Basic computer training is essential for this position since citations are issued with hand held computers.

Competencies/Qualifications:

A thorough knowledge and understanding of parking policies and regulations is required. In addition, enforcement officers must have a thorough knowledge of the physical lay out of campus as well as the functions of each department and their locations. They must have excellent customer service skills and be able to independently handle a situation with an irate customer without escalating the conflict.
