Research Specialist iI - Plant Science Research

Regular Full-time, Market Range 05

Two (2) full time research specialist positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. C. Neal Stewart within the Department of Plant Sciences affiliated with the Center for Agricultural Synthetic Biology. These positions are externally-funded and continued employment contingent upon funding.  The employees will be required to take care of plants, perform molecular biology, microscopy, and tissue culture research, and work in a secure environment.  Experience in these areas is preferred. Applicants should be comfortable working in greenhouse conditions including high humidity and heat. This position is expected to collect data through observation, experimentation, use of equipment (i.e. thermocyclers, centrifuges, gel electrophoresis systems, fluorescence imaging, cameras, data loggers, light meters, etc.). Employees will participate in the development of research procedures and may assist in the evaluation, analysis and interpretation of the collected data and should be able to prepare reports detailing the data recorded. Employees may be involved in project planning, design or modification of techniques.  Milestones and deliverables must be attained as demonstrated in monthly reports to the sponsor



Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience in a relevant area.

Additional Requirements:

                Strong communication skills (both written and oral)

                Excellent organizational skills

                Problem solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team

                Must be proficient in MS office software

                Ability of compile information into report form

                Ability to interpret results and translate into recommendations

                U.S. citizenship
