This also includes programmatic responsibilities such as supporting the University's compliance with Executive Order 11246; Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Equal Pay Act of 1963; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), as amended by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA); the Age Discrimination Act of 1975; the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and as amended by ADA Amendments Act of 2008; the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) of 1974; Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) of 1994; the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) of 2008; Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (CADA); Colorado Sexual Orientation Employment Discrimination Act (SOEDA); Colorado Prevention of Sexual Misconduct on Higher Education Campuses; Denver Municipal Ordinances; and other applicable federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws through prompt, effective, and remedial investigative responses to complaints of harassment, discrimination, and gender-based violence brought by students, faculty, staff, and third parties and set forth in various university policies and guidelines.

Position Summary

The Deputy Equal Opportunity Coordinator for Investigation and Resolution/Senior Investigator will assist the Associate Vice Chancellor for Equal Opportunity and Title IX and the EO-IX with the management of formal and informal resolutions and timely, high-quality, fair and thorough investigations. The Deputy Equal Opportunity Coordinator will be responsible for (1) conducting civil rights investigations at the University of Denver, in particular complex investigations of complaints of alleged discrimination and harassment based on protected characteristics; (2) developing and delivering training on topics related to the University's compliance with federal and local non-discrimination and anti-harassment laws; and (3) assisting with coordination of the University's response to bias-related incidents and informal resolution processes. The Deputy Equal Opportunity Coordinator will report to the Associate Vice President for Equal Opportunity and Title IX within the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX.

The Deputy Equal Opportunity Coordinator will conduct initial review and evaluation of allegations of discrimination, harassment, and gender-based violence involving faculty, staff, and students at the University of Denver, including conducting intake interviews, explaining resolution options, and determining whether there is sufficient information to implicate University policies. The Deputy Equal Opportunity Coordinator will conduct investigations pursuant to the University's Discrimination and Harassment Policy, Comprehensive Discrimination and Harassment Procedures, and Title IX Sexual Harassment Procedures consistent with federal and state law as well as provide guidance and assistance to Investigators in EO-IX. Investigations will include conducting a preliminary review of the complaint, making determinations concerning the necessity for a formal investigation, interviewing relevant individuals and reviewing documents or other evidence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years of working with civil rights compliance, higher education Title IX/Investigation or human resources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in law, human resources, higher education or related field.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 13.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
