•Bachelor’s degree
•Available to work evenings, weekends and travel overnight
•Demonstrated working knowledge of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and its cultural dynamics (see “Additional Information” below)
•Effective and accurate written communication skills
•Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

•Texas State employee or alumnus
•Bilingual Spanish
•Two years or more of prior experience in professional college admissions or closely
related experience
•Experience with event coordination
•Experience working remotely

Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to recruit prospective students and to promote Texas State in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The DFW Regional Counselor participates in all aspects of recruitment, both in DFW and on campus.

Expected activities include but are not limited to visits to high schools and community colleges, presentations, admissions events, and communication with students, parents, and counselors.

The DFW Regional Counselor position requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills.

Applicants must reside in the DFW Metroplex.

Job Duties:

The characteristics and responsibilities of the ideal DFW Regional Counselor include but are not limited to:
•Outstanding organizational skills
•Self-motivating
•Takes initiative
•Excellent oral and written communication skills with individuals and in a group setting
•Exceptional interpersonal skill
•Providing exceptional customer service
•Extensive travel
•Available for evening, overnight, and weekend work
•Participating in college fairs and admissions events in Dallas/Fort Worth and on campus
•Conducting large and small group presentations
•Collaborating with the admissions team
•Planning recruitment events
•Communicating and establishing relationships with prospective students, parents, and counselors via available media
•Preparing recruitment reports
•Reviewing admission applications and recommending decisions
•Other duties as assigned.
•Must reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex
