Overview

The Department of Psychology at Princeton University is seeking a full­-time lab manager in the Adversity and Relationships in Context Lab (ARC Lab) under the supervision of Professor Rebecca Carey. The primary goal of research in ARC Lab is to understand and reduce inequality in society. Drawing on social and cultural perspectives, this research investigates two broad questions: (1) what are the consequences of adversity on close relationships and (2) what role do close relationships play in mitigating or exacerbating the consequences of adversity?

This is a one­-year term position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. Start date is negotiable but will ideally start September 1, 2021. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of research, including:

(1) assist in administrative lab duties (e.g., establish lab documents and policies, create and maintain lab website, hire research assistants, purchase and maintain lab equipment)

(2) manage research projects and team members (e.g., coordinate research project logistics, manage and coordinate research assistants, train research assistants)

(3) assist in research projects (e.g., complete IRB submissions, schedule and run participants, design study materials, code and analyze data, conduct literature reviews, assist with publications and presentations), and

(4) manage lab meetings and events.



Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in psychology or relevant field
  • General knowledge of social science research methods, statistics, and experimental studies with human subjects
  • One or more years of research experience in a psychology, education, or related discipline
  • Interest in inequality, social disparities, or adversity
  • Excellent communication, management, and administrative skills
  • Highly motivated, organized, and conscientious
  • Generous team member
  • Ability to communicate effectively with participants and researchers
  • The final candidate must pass a background check and approval by Princeton Human Resources
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Qualtrics or other survey design software
  • Experience with Web Design
  • Experience in developing and conducting in-person or online experiments with human subjects
  • Experience using a data analysis program such as R, SPSS, or SAS
