Overview
The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology is hiring a full-time one year term Research Specialist I position in the teaching lab to support the Fall and Spring semester courses.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include set up, maintain and dismantle student labs for a large intro biology course, assist with plant and animal care (primarily fish and crickets), and use and maintenance of basic lab equipment. Advanced responsibilities include assisting in the design and tests of new lab protocols. Assisting AI's in the lab and field, as well as assisting undergraduates with experimental procedures. General maintenance and lab support, including clean up between labs, organize and store lab set-ups when not in use, and ordering supplies as needed.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and/or educational or work experience in a biology lab, as well as basic chemistry skills.
- Must be detail oriented, have strong communication and organization skills, as well as maintain accurate written records.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience preferred: organismal (whole organism) biology; experience caring for freshwater fish tanks; experience with light microscopes.
