Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Anatomic Pathology, the Histology Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight and operations of the Histology Department, including the supervision of staff (hiring, training, corrective action, etc.) The incumbent will plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and cross training. Will develop and implement quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper function of laboratory equipment and compliance with federal regulations. Prepare and maintain applicable records. Establish and maintain instrument procedures. Assist in instrument troubleshooting. May be required to assist in some technical aspects.

Annual Rate $81400 $133500 $185500

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must have a minimum five years experience and the ability to embed and perform special stains
  • Must be ASCP certified
  • Ability to work with Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with resident and faculty in regard to different issues
  • Willingness to participate in teleconferences and other continuing education program
  • Willingness and ability to train new histotechnology students


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience
