Organizational Unit Overview:

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, in conjunction with Vidant Medical Center, provides a broad range of clinical services in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology for hospital and clinic patients. The Department houses residency, cytopathology, forensic pathology, and surgical pathology fellowship programs. The mission of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is to improve the health and well-being of the citizens of eastern North Carolina and beyond by delivering high quality pathology services, by providing exemplary education for medical students, residents, and other health care professionals, and by creating new knowledge through research. As the field of Pathology continues to evolve, the Department will continue to uphold its commitment to provide the best diagnosis and treatment monitoring services to the citizens of eastern North Carolina.

Job Duties :

The primary function of this position is to provide administrative support for faculty in the Surgical and Clinical sections of the Department of Pathology. This includes: maintaining conference, duty, call, and service schedules in QGenda; organizing onboarding meetings for faculty new-hires; tracking and/or entering leave in QGenda or other approved platforms; managing calendars for Head of Surgical Pathology and Head of Clinical Pathology; processing travel and expense reimbursements in Chrome River; assisting with travel arrangements, such as lodging, airfare, and registration; processing purchases for supplies, dues, fees, licenses, and other items; reconciling ProCard expenses; ordering coats, business cards, and supplies for faculty new-hires; processing locum tenen invoices for surgical and clinical pathology; assisting with completion of Time & Effort (T&E) reports; assisting with entry of teaching, scholarly, and other activities in Faculty 180; transcribing notes, drafting agendas, and recording meeting minutes; obtaining mail from BSOM and distributing at VMC; registering faculty and residents for access to ExpertPath; retrieving slides for pathologists, as needed; providing general administrative assistance to Head of Surgical Pathology and Head of Clinical Pathology; and other duties as assigned.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
