Position Summary:

This recruitment is for a Temporary Communications Specialist III position through UCI’s internal temporary service.

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Advancement Communications, the Communications Specialist III manages complex comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, digital, and electronic communications for the University Advancement department. This recruitment will specifically be assisting with project management for the Anti-Cancer Challenge. Duties include, but are not limited to, gathering content and producing collateral materials such as newsletters, emails, presentations, & invitations. Writing & editing content for the project website & other online platforms. Providing fact-checking and copy-editing support. Reviewing content and design generated by University Advancement and Alumni Relations to ensure alignment with UCI brand style guidelines and editorial style guidelines.

Compensation Range: $29.89/hr.

Required Skills:

  • Outstanding writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Must possess a proficiency in communicating effectively with diverse audiences in conversations and through documents – writing must be clear and concise with correct spelling and grammar.
  • Experience in persuasive writing communication styles and copywriting.
  • Ability to adapt writing style based on recipient/audience.
  • Ability to create persuasive and creative visual materials.
  • Ability to use PowerPoint, graphics, art, photography and design techniques
Preferred Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in English, journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or related subject and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Demonstrated journalistic writing abilities. Professional publications, web development or editorial experience preferred.Knowledge of fundraising philosophy and practices; higher education experience preferred.Knowledge and understanding of current events, issues and developments in the Academic Healthcare preferred
  • Experience using Adobe Suite.
  • Experience using WordPress.
