Job Rate

During 90-day probation: $15.21/hour, plus $0.75/hour as a Dispatcher

After completion of 90-day probation: $16.30/hour, plus $0.75/hour as a Dispatcher

Additional rate differentials:

$1.00/hour as a Certified Dispatcher

$1.00/hour as a Master Dispatcher

$1.00/hour as a Team Leader

$0.50/hour as a Certified Instructor

The Dispatcher plays a critical role within Temple University’s Campus Safety Services and Temple University Police Department.  Dispatchers are classified as Security Officers/Dispatchers.  This position will be regularly scheduled as a Dispatcher in the Communications Center but may be offered overtime hours as a Security Officer on an as-needed basis.  Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Must possess a valid vehicle operator license, with an excellent driving record.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Answers incoming calls from the University community and public in a timely and professional manner

*Utilizes various communications center equipment, including computer equipment, phone equipment, and camera equipment. Determines nature of the call and appropriate response to information received

*Enters received information into Temple Police information management system

*Responds to information requests from personnel requiring information from computer systems 

*Security. Monitoring and Controlling entry and exit in University Facilities

*Observing and controlling individuals and materials entering and leaving University facilities

*Positioning oneself at or near the entrance of the University facilities

*Observing individuals as they enter and exit the facilities

*Confronting individuals who may not be permitted to enter University facilities or attempting to leave University facilities with University property without proper authorization or trying to leave University facilities after committing crimes in or around the facility


*Minimum of 2 years Security experience
