General Summary

The purpose of this role is to provide customer and endpoint support in the Laboratory Schools and College of Education, and to develop and enhance the skills necessary to assist in the management of endpoint devices through their life cycle, create and manage the documentation of the endpoint team, and to help in developing and managing the approved software titles in use on campus.

The role will include PC/laptop preparation, imaging, joining devices to the domain, testing of new technology, and deploying and removing end-of-life devices, as well as working on and configuring Endpoint devices such as printers and classroom technology. This position may also have other duties assigned by the COE Technology Team Leadership.

The successful candidate will be able to use the time and knowledge gained from this role as a practical demonstration of industry experience in future professional endeavors.

This is a year-round position.

Additional Information

The Illinois State University Laboratory School are a service unit of the College of Education of Illinois State University. It offers a comprehensive program of instruction for 1000 students in grades PreK-12 across two buildings, Thomas Metcalf School and University High School. The mission of the Laboratory Schools is to act as a model for educational methods and theory in support of the preparation of future educators, conduct educational research, offer quality educational programs for children, and disseminate information to others in the educational profession.

While primary responsibilities pertain to the ISU Laboratory Schools technology needs, technology support works as a unit including the College of Education and the ISU Laboratory Schools in order to provide the best support and fulfill the technology needs for faculty and staff at all locations

Required Qualifications
  1. High school graduation or equivalent
  2. One or more years of professional-level work experience providing customer and endpoint support.
  3. One or more years of experience installing and troubleshooting Windows, Chromebook, and/or Mac client hardware and software.
  4. Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with various groups of people.
  5. Demonstrated ability to adapt and develop new skills.
  6. Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  7. Ability to recognize potential errors or concerns and to escalate the concerns to your direct supervisors.
  8. Exceptional attention to detail, even when tasks seem repetitive and mundane.
  9. Ability to remain focused while managing multiple priorities.
  10. Ability to read, develop, and correct technical documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Demonstrated experience with instructional software and technology, Learning Management Systems, and Google school.
  3. Advanced knowledge of desktop and mobile computing. Broad knowledge of microcomputer software, hardware, and networking systems.
  4. Strong analytical skills and the ability to research problems independently.
  5. Experience with Microsoft Windows 7, 8, and 10, OSX 10 and 11, and Google Chrome OS.
  6. Hands on experience disassembling and rebuilding desktop and laptop hardware.
  7. Experience with SCCM and software package development.
  8. Testing and validation of concepts awareness.
  9. Experience with Remote Desktop Connections and VPN management.
  10. Experience with Microsoft Office and O365 suite of applications.
  11. Experience with Active Directory.
  12. Experience with PowerShell Scripting.
  13. Experience working within a K-12 or higher education setting.
Work Hours

Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Transport computer equipment from building to building and occasionally across campus.
2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

$18.67 - $24.26 per hour
