Recruit prospective student-athletes and coordinate the recruiting function for the Cross Country/Track & Field program, which includes overseeing all recruiting assignments to other coaches, developing a recruiting calendar, setting recruiting priorities, overseeing all on-campus visits, and selecting which prospects receive a scholarship offer in coordination with the Head Coach; develop contacts and relationships with pertinent Track & Field clubs/organizations, high school coaches/programs; maintain an efficient and effective tracking and evaluation system; assist in all aspects of practice and meet coaching; provide skill instruction for student-athletes, including individual sessions, small groups, and total team training; assist with oversight of student-athlete academic progress and eligibility, community service/outreach, and other duties as assigned by Head Coach; and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, including compliance with all NCAA rules.

    Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience coaching cross country, track, and field at the camp/clinic, high school, or collegiate levelMust have technical knowledge and skills regarding cross country and track and field; quality recruiting experience; knowledge of the university, conference, and NCAA rules/regulations/requirementsStrong organizational skillsProven ability to train and recruit at Division I collegiate levelUnderstanding to accept and carry out assigned programs and responsibilitiesAbility to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the communityAbility to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulationsDemonstrate a commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically Work collaboratively within the structure and framework of the Athletics Department and UniversityConfidently and competently lead a training session for women. 



  • Previous experience in coaching the throwing events
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
