Professional Research Assistant

Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS)

The Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) has an opening for a full-time (100% effort) entry-level Professional Research Assistant (PRA) to work for a National Heart, Lung, Blood and Sleep Institute (NHLBI)-funded project focused on reducing asthma attacks in disadvantaged school children with asthma. This project focuses on coordinating asthma care and addressing social determinants of health needs among families, schools and health providers.  The project occurs through communities in Colorado with an emphasis on rural communities.

This exciting opportunity includes working with local communities as well as state experts. The PRA will support the research staff in variety of tasks, including coordinating and organizing research meetings with stakeholders, quantitative and qualitative data collection, survey programming, administration and descriptive analysis, database development, creating presentations and resources, document and reference formatting, attending team and advisory board meetings, taking minutes, conducting interviews, and other administrative tasks.

Work will occur predominantly on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Job duties will occur during regular working hours except some advisory board meetings may occur in evening hours (until 7 PM at the latest).

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

This position will require the ability to balance both independent and collaborative tasks and competing demands.

 Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Assisting and coordinating with all study team members and collaborators to complete research activities  Meeting coordination and support for advisory boards and committees, including minute takingSupporting study team activities by scheduling and/or conducting interviews to share information and collect data with full adherence to study protocolDevelopment of forms for tracking and data collectionPerformance of internet searchesTracking research data from collection through analysis as outlined in the protocolParticipation in study-related training (human subjects, study protocol, interviewing) and meetingsObtaining informed consentData entry: Will complete data entry into REDCap or Qualtrics. Survey programming: Will assist in programming new surveys to REDCap and Qualtrics.Follow IRB and human subject’s protection protocols, including recognizing and reporting adverse eventsAssist with IRB amendmentsPerformance of basic descriptive statisticsConvert research data into graphic formDay-to-day activities related to the implementation of a research protocol including scheduling and attending meetings with project investigators and staffCommunicating effectively with research team members, project partners and collaborators, and study participants using a variety of modalities (email, Zoom, telephone, written)Manage simple research activities that are part of larger project from initiation to close (e.g. gift cards, device tracking, other tasks as assigned)Overseeing student workers when neededOther related work, including administrative work, will be assigned by the Senior PRA or Project Manager as required by the nature and scope of the position.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at $38,500 to $41,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree in public health, education or other health-related profession.
    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications:

      Masters in public health or similarPrevious experience in public health research Aptitude to learn database management and online survey software and other software as needed.
     

    Required competencies, knowledge, skills and abilities:

    • Ability to work as a team member and work effectively with diverse people
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maximum accountability
    • Must be team-oriented, flexible, self-motivated and able to work independently
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including communication with professional colleagues, clinic staff and community members of diverse backgrounds
    • Excellent computer skills, particularly with all software in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint or presentation software and Outlook. Advanced experience with the Internet and conducting Internet searches
    • Versatility and the ability to operate effectively according to the needs and demands of concurrent tasks
    • Ability to represent the University and ACCORDS in a professional and positive manner
    • Detail orientation to produce reports and presentations without supervision
    • Good time management skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
