The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Research Services Professional (open rank) position.

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support of research activities.  Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal and training.

Research Services Entry Professional:

Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and Development capacity.

Research Services Intermediate Professional:

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Research Services Senior Professional:

Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.  Work is performed fully independently.

Position Emphasis:

This position will provide clinical trial set up facilitation, coordination, and flow of data between the Principal Investigator and industry sponsors, and act as a facilitator and data manager for the duration of any assigned study.  This position will be assigned to clinical trials on an ongoing basis.  It is the responsibility of this position to meet clinical trial goals and to keep the Clinical Trials Manager informed on the progress of all assigned clinical trial responsibilities.

Specific Duties:

  • Provide protocol management for all assigned clinical research trials.
  • Manage human research subject recruitment and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies/policies; oversee subject enrollment and onboarding.
  • Coordinate, analyze and manage applicable clinical research data received from Industry, RedCap and Oncore; use data to monitor the progress of clinical trials, track outcomes and ensure goals are met.
  • Work closely with the PI to provide necessary data for publication.
  • Support the IRB submission process.
  • Provide pre-award grant support by assisting with the submission process.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

Entry Level:

$42,830 - $54,480

Intermediate:

$46,609 - $59,287

Senior Professional:

$50,388 - $64,094  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications – Entry Level

A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, Biology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Minimum Qualifications – Intermediate Pro:

A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 year of professional level in Clinical Trials.  

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Minimum Qualifications – Senior Pro:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least two years of experience in sponsored project administration.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

    One (1) or more years of experience working with clinical trials.Experience with grants.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.Outstanding customer service skills.Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.Ability to manage multiple tasks and keep organized.Ability to work well with outside entities and follow state rules.
