Professional Research Assistant

Cell and Developmental Biology

Position Number: 785163

Nature of Work

The PRA will work with and support laboratory faculty and staff involved with the State Anatomical Board. 

Supervision Received

Daily interaction with the faculty, staff, and students.

Supervision Exercised

Coordinate work with other departmental personnel as needed.

Examples of Work Performed

Specific duties and responsibilities include: assisting with the transfer of cadavers to and from embalming tables; assisting with the preparation of unembalmed anatomical specimens; assisting with outside vendors delivering and/or picking up cadavers for transport; sorting and mailing cremains; assisting with course set-up and clean-up; supporting lab techs which includes placing cadavers in clean humidors, filling wetting solution spray bottles, placing clean tubs, buckets and blocks on humidors, cleaning shared dissection tools, and emptying humidor fluid; receiving and storing delivered supplies; performing custodial duties which includes sweeping and mopping floors, emptying trash cans, cleaning restrooms and dissection labs, cleaning locker rooms and small classrooms, and cleaning whiteboards.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $37,000-$43,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Requirements

Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Applicant must have experience working with human cadavers.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in an educational medical environment.

Experience cleaning and maintaining laboratories and lab equipment.

Experience purchasing and maintaining lab supplies.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.

Job Conditions

Must be willing and able to lift and move over 100 pounds.

Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including bending, stooping, pushing, standing, and kneeling for long periods of time.

Must be willing and able to push equipment weighing up to and over 100 pounds.
