The PRA is entry-level role that supports Dr. Christie’s research program investigating motor learning (www.cerebellumlab.org). It is focused on mouse husbandry and laboratory management (ordering, stocking, etc.). The PRA will also assist with histochemistry (labeling and imaging tissue). If time allows, the position will also involve hands-on research. This component would match the candidate’s background, interests, and skills (it may involve assisting with behavior experiments or mouse surgeries). This PRA position is excellent for someone who wants to gain experience in a research lab setting and develop new skills in advanced neuroscience techniques, perhaps in advance of graduate/medical school. However, it can easily grow into a long-term position. Supervision Received:
The position will be supervised by Dr. Jason Christie. Examples of Work Performed:
• Mouse colony maintenance (crosses, weaning, genotyping, and data entry).
• Ordering and maintaining an inventory of common lab supplies.
• Histochemistry (perfusions, sectioning, labeling, imaging).Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $36,000 - $49,000.The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. • Bachelor’s degree in biological science or closely related STEM field isrequired.
