Position Description:
UCLA Extension is considered one of the top programs of its kind, offering to more than 35,000 students per year approximately 4,500 classes and non-degree certificate programs to meet the professional development, continuing education and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of nontraditional students as well as companies and organizations throughout and beyond the Los Angeles region.
Under the direction of the Interim Director of Academic Technology and Learning Innovation Department (ATLI):
The Instructional Designer (ID) will work with a team of senior IDs and will have primary responsibility for ensuring that all courses/programs meet the quality standards established by UCLA Extension and are designed to facilitate deep engagement among learners with instructional content, with their peers, and with their instructors.
The ID is expected to be an expert in the field of instructional design, learning assessment design, and creation. The ID will cultivate and develop course material that is innovative and engaging, ensuring continuous iterative improvement through the implementation of ongoing design and content evaluations and related quality assessment procedures.

In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
