Biological Scientist II

Experimental design which entails the laying out and application of treatments in experimental plots, and maintenance of experiments in the field.-40%

Collection of soil and tissue samples to determine plant growth, yield, and other measurements-40%

Interpretation of results through organization of data, inputting of data, running statistical analysis, generation of reports, scientific literature review, and interfacing with cooperators. Development of novel materials and methods for biological data collection and statistical analysis of data may also be required.-20%

Salary is commensurate with education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related field and three years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree in biology or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field.

M.S. in horticulture, agronomy, soil science, agricultural engineering, or other related field or a B.S. in related fields with three years of experience.

Knowledge of the terminology, principles, and techniques used in applied crop production research.

Knowledge of methods of data collection, soil sampling, tissue sampling, and plant measurements

Skill in use of scientific laboratory and field equipment and computers

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
