The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Managing Editor of University Press. Assistant Managing Editor will (1) provide substantive, line, and copy editorial assistance to the Director and Managing Editor; (2) provide acquisitions assistance to the Director and Managing Editor, including acquiring and helping develop new book projects, securing subject matter experts for peer review and preparing their contracts, soliciting and evaluating proposals and manuscripts, working with series editors, negotiating and preparing contracts with/for authors, and developing marketing plans with Director and Managing Editor; and (3) delegate editing tasks to student employees and interns.
- Perform substantive editing, line editing, and priority copyediting
- Acquire and help develop new projects, including securing subject matter experts for peer review and preparing their contracts
- Solicit and evaluate book proposals and manuscripts
- Develop marketing plans
- Negotiate and prepare contracts with/for authors
- Manage student employees and interns in their editing tasks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Professional knowledge of standard English grammar and syntax.
- Strong communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Two years of experience in an office environment required
- Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
