Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Office Assistant III. The Office Assistant III will provide administrative, secretarial and receptionist duties to support the Center for Global Engagement in serving faculty, staff, parents and students. The Office Assistant III will also maintain appointment schedules and post class schedules for study abroad students.

Responsibilities
  • Represent the Center for Global Engagement in a professional manner by providing administrative and clerical support to the office staff directly on the Dahlonega campus and indirectly to the office located on the Gainesville campus. Ensure a welcoming and professional environment to all visitors.
  • Answer phones and greet visitors. Assist by screening and directing callers and visitors to the appropriate staff member.
  • Exhibit mastery skills of the appointment scheduling software in order to maintain multiple staff calendars for the department. Schedules appointments/meetings in conjenction with maintaining office calendars.
  • Creates a variety of complex documents using vairous word processing, spreadsheet and desktop publishing software. Gathers data from files and prepares reports including basic matematical calculations and tabulations.
  • Receives, reads, composes responses, and routes mail/emails. Composes both critical and routine correspondence.
  • Track and organize office supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of personal computers and office software, office machines, and office practices.
  • Knowledge of the concept of confidentiality and ability to apply this concept within and outside the workplace.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office, Banner, and Terra Dotta preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Ability to meet officials, students, and visitors pleasantly and courteously; the ability to effectively convey information are essential.
  • Willingness to diligently compile and maintain records and various files for department and the ability to coordinated multiple parties needs and schedules is also essential. Ability to occasionally lift or move items of 5-10 lbs as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of clerical or administrative experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
