Eastern Washington University and the College of Health Science and Public Health at Eastern Washington University invite applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (Lecturer) position in the Department of Public Health and Health Administration to begin September 2021. This position’s workload is devoted to 100% online teaching within the department programs.

The Department of Public Health and Health Administration is housed in a state-of-the-art facility located at Eastern’s Spokane Campus in Spokane, WA. The department offers three fully online accelerated format graduate degrees; a Master of Public Health, a Graduate Certificate in Public Health, and a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Administration. The department also offers hybrid undergraduate programs that include: Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Bachelor of Arts in Health Services Administration, a Bachelor of Arts in Health Services Administration- Long-term Care option, a Bachelor of Arts in Health Informatics, and a minor in Health Services Management.

Eastern is a regional, comprehensive university where all faculty are expected to demonstrate teaching excellence, professional growth, and service to the university, profession, and the community. Responsibilities in this position include teaching and mentoring of clinical faculty.

Eastern is co-located on two campuses, Spokane (home of our College of Health Science and Public Health and College of Business & Public Administration) in addition to the main campus in Cheney (20 minutes from downtown Spokane), as well as additional teaching/learning centers located in other cities throughout Washington State.

Note: Interviews will be conducted via Zoom (camera must be enabled). While we anticipate being open for in-person instruction for academic year 2021-2022, should Washington State or university pandemic restrictions disallow for in-person instruction, then courses will be taught via online platforms, including Zoom and other technologies. Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence using these technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Public Health or related field.
  • History of community engagement.
  • Minimum of two years experience in management, administration, or leadership within the last five years.
  • Knowledge of the CEPH accreditation process.
  • At least 5 years of experience in online teaching and learning.
  • Experience with use of technology and learning management systems (LMS).
  • History of scholarly work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience in course design and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who offer one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of Canvas LMS and eportfolio software.
  • Experience in CEPH accreditation process.
  • Experience in online accelerated program and program development in this area.
  • Experience in public health profession.
  • Experience in health services administration profession.
