The Athletic Proefssional for Events and Sports Info in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Job Duties:

Event Management

Set up, tear down, and manage event for home UCCS sporting events.Recruit, hire, train and evaluate student workers for events.Work crowd control for home eventsSet up VIP areas for home events.Manage facilities schedule.Sports Information

  • Coordinate UCCS Athletics social media, including developing social media plan for UCCS Athletics and working with sport teams and monitoring individual sport social media channels.
  • Work with Sports Information Department on all creative materials and graphic arts materials as it relates to global marketing plans. Work with Marketing Managers on all marketing and promotions creative, including print advertisements, game day promotion flyers, game day programs, schedule cards and other pieces as assigned
  • Write, edit, and distribute news, press releases and statistical information through online and print medias, including local, regional, and national outlets (print and electronic).
  • Serve as part of the UCCS Athletic Administrative team and represent UCCS and conference, regional and national conventions.
  • Ensure www.GoMoutainLions.com, the UCCS Athletics website, is properly maintained and kept up to date.
  • Schedule staff, volunteers and students within the Sports Information department and game day operation.
  • Serve as director of Mountain Lion Athletic Events including media, statistics, game film, TV/radio broadcast, score table, etc. for all athletic events.

    Job Competencies:

  • Demonstrated skills in writing event previews, recaps, and feature stories.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large amounts of information with accuracy.
  • Demonstrated computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), StatCrew statistical software, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) and other campus databases.
  • Ability to take initiative in organizing programs, planning events, preparing materials, and interacting effectively with members of the athletic department and the campus community.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and ability in supervising, advising, training, and evaluating of student employees, volunteers/interns.
  • Effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to write and edit, preparing all documents efficiently.
  • Ability to multi-task, plan, organize and execute day-to-day operations; work under deadlines and maintain a detail-oriented and highly confidential approach to each task.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate the flow of work daily.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    What We Offer:

    Salary Range: Generally starting at $36,331 - $46,878

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Tentative Search Timeline:

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Communications, Sport Management, Athletic Administration, Business, Marketing, or related field required. 
  • Previous experience in a similar role within an Athletic Department or in higher education preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Communications, Sport Management, Athletic Administration, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.  Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involveusing a computer screen continuously for long periods of time, reaching, handling and fingering. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
