Serving Students/Faculty/Staff on the Auraria Campus in Downtown Denver, CO

Three Universities Located on One Common Campus

Metropolitan State University of Denver * University of Colorado at Denver * Community College of Denver

POSITION: Full-time (12 month) primary care position, with sports medicine specialty. Clinical setting is typical of a busy Family Practice office (without pediatrics/OB), with both walk-in and scheduled appointments. Position will serve as team physician for MSU Denver varsity athletics and serve as a resource for athletic training staff. Candidate should have a wide range of clinical/diagnostic/ortho/procedure skills based on comprehensive work experience/training and be proficient in the use of electronic medical records. Physician will supervise mid-level medical providers and perform some administrative duties. Position reports to the Health Center Executive Director with oversight by the Associate Director.

SCHEDULE: 8:00-5:00 M-Th and 8:00-4:30 F; Additional week off when campus closes during holiday break at the end of December. Comprehensive University of Colorado benefits, including malpractice insurance. Note that team physician role may include periodic after-hours consultation/coverage.

SUPERIOR WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Supportive atmosphere includes full administrative infrastructure and an extremely diverse clinical practice in a new modern medical facility (average age of students is 24). Practice is completely electronic. Lab, digital X-Ray and ultrasound on-site. Specialists include: GYN and Psychiatry. Two primary care physicians are on-site daily.

Examples of Work Performed

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Clinical Care

    Provide full scope direct patient care in an ambulatory clinical setting (no peds/OB).Participate as needed in chart review and clinical coding compliance activities.Assist in supervision mid-level providers at the clinic.Provide service to Metro Athletics.Clinica breadkdown: approximately 60% primary care/40% sports medicine
Administrative/Professional Development

    Maintain eligibility for School of Medicine Faculty.­Keep abreast of the latest developments in field, both academically and through applied skill.Participate in scholarly activity.Accept other responsibilities specifically assigned by the Health Center Director/Associate Director.Attend and present at conferences, meetings and trainings in order to maintain certification and enhance professional skills; participates in faculty development activities.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at: 

Senior Instructor: $200,000 - $208,000

Assistant Professor:  $200,000 – $208,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Senior Instructor
  • Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.
  • Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program.
  • Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and CU Medicine Managed Care.
Assistant Professor
  • Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.
  • Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program.
  • Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and CU Medicine Managed Care.
Preferred Qualifications (all positions)

  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching students and/or residents
  • 3+ years’ experience in a busy primary care setting.
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Sports Medicine.
  • Emergency and mental health diagnostic and treatment skills.
