The Department of Pediatrics, Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect has an opening for a part-time University Staff (unclassified) Business Services Intermediate Professional position.

Kempe is a world leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. We bring together leading research and treatment professionals, policy makers and community members to make sure every child has the opportunity to develop and grow in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Kempe is serving as the launch pad for a Child and Family Institute at the University of Colorado. The Institute aims to establish the University of Colorado as a national and international resource for expertise and thought leadership on all issues related to children and families. The Institute will foster multidisciplinary collaborations across the university (and beyond) in order to break open the silos that constrain us and unleash bold and creative endeavors seeking, testing, translating, and disseminating our shared knowledge about children and families with a spirit of humility, curiosity, and service. The Institute is born from the belief that it is only when we explore and embrace courageous new ways of thinking and working together that we will be able to solve the complex problems that we face in the 21st century from human migration to climate change to digital sex abuse of children and so much more.

This position will serve as the Project Coordinator for the Child and Family Institute. The Project Coordinator will manage all core projects supported by the Institute. The Project Coordinator will facilitate communication, collaboration, and ensure projects move forward productively and outcomes are achieved, tracked, and evaluated. The Project Coordinator will be expected to complete legal research, analysis, synthesis, and drafting; provide budget management support; help manage schedules related to the Institute; and organize public, private, and media events related to the Institute's work. The Project Coordinator will complete and participate in other duties, tasks, and improvements as they arise.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Maintain all micro-project and macro-project deadlines and timelines
  • Execute assigned tasks to help manage CFI projects in a timely fashion
  • Perform administrative duties and processes
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings, symposia, conferences, and other events
  • Organize and manage various stakeholder schedules and tasks
  • Maintain a database to include:
  • Projected goals
  • Achievement of goals
  • Notes of important meetings
  • Notes of progress toward goals
  • Important documents related to goal achievement, communications, etc.
  • Communicate with team regarding present goals, future goals, and goal attainment as needed
  • Prepare and distribute project materials such as reports, books, presentation materials, articles, artwork
  • Meet deadlines as communicated
  • Conduct international and comparative legal, medical, and psychosocial research as requested
  • Write requisite memos, reports, correspondence, etc.
  • Edit written work product
  • Prepare presentation materials
  • Support the success of CFI faculty, administrators, staff, and students
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $22,263 to $31,168 for a 50% time position.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of proven experience and demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity and justice.
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Law, Public Policy, Social Work, Healthcare or a related field
  • Previous legal and/or project management experience
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Conditions of Employment:

Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Business, Law, Public Policy, Social Work, Healthcare or a related field
  • Experience with children's advocacy issues and/or child and family rights
  • Research experience relating to children's rights
  • Experience in utilizing digital platforms such as Microsoft, Google, Prezi and Zoom
  • Bilingual- English and Mandarin or Korean preferred
