Nature of Work

The University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Business Services Professional. This full-time University Staff (non-classified) will support the Kempe Center for the Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect.  The Project Coordinator will provide center-wide support as well as support for the START Program and CARE Network. 

The Kempe START program provides independent case second opinion consultation for highly complex, protracted or difficult child abuse and neglect cases. The consultation team can involve experts from many disciplines including but not limited to medicine, medical toxicology, nursing, behavioral health, law, ethics, psychology and clinical social work.  The Child Abuse Response and Evaluation (CARE) Network is a state-funded initiative to train and support healthcare practitioners in the medical evaluation and behavioral health assessment of children referred for maltreatment. The CARE Network's aim is to increase local capacity by building appropriate infrastructure to provide technical assistance and resources through a state-funded program that develops and maintains a standardized, coordinated response to suspected child abuse and neglect through a network of designated healthcare providers.

This role’s primary responsibility to create strategy vision for recruitment of providers and to engage and connect with new stakeholders. This role will work closely with leadership to carry out the vision and direction of the program. This role will evolve based upon new programs and projects and requires the agility and flexibility to do so while creating actionable items that will be customized and adaptable to support new initiative and direction while refining communication, measurability, and impact of efforts.

Examples of Work Performed


CARE Network Role:

  • Coordinate and manage details and logistics of in-person and web-based learning opportunities, and provide day-of support and management of events and sessions.
  • i.e. 1 day annual in-person provider training, 2 day new provider in-person training, monthly web-based 1-hour learning sessions
  • Provide technical support to medical and behavioral health providers in their completion of CARE Network requirements
  • i.e. completion of application, scope of work, registration and participation in educational opportunities and submission of case data using the RedCAP database
  • Collect and submit all necessary items and details for the accreditation of learning opportunities to offer continuing education credit to providers
  • Update and maintain details of web-based learning opportunities in CHCO learning management system
    • Maintain record of provider completion of network requirements
    • i.e. completion of application, scope of work, registration and participation in educational opportunities and submission of case data using the RedCAP database
  • Provide general support to CARE Network and Medical Director as needed.
  • Provide general support to CARE Network and Medical Director as needed.
  • Process new provider applications and onboard ~10 new CARE Network providers, annually (including, licensure verification, mentorship assignment, new provider orientation provider requirements training offerings, CAC introduction,  state agency notification)
  • Manage email inbox for submission of case data from providers and direct email to correct CARE Network mentor for review and feedback
  • START Role:

    • Receive and coordinate START referrals with referring party (e.g, caseworkers, law enforcement, District Attorneys)
    • Triage inquiries and referrals to determine if identified concerns and consultation questions can be adequately addressed by START consultants, or if another service may be needed instead.
    • Determine/collect necessary materials for consultant(s)/team to review, distributing as indicated
    • Organize, coordinate, schedule, attend and facilitate START consultations
    • Compile START reports for completed START consultations, gather required signatures and send to the referring party
    • Complete all billing for in/out-of-state consultations and contracted services and maintain all tracking of records of START consultations under supervision of the Director
    • Develop and maintain a database for all START consultations
    • Support the Directors with marketing tasks, maintain the START brochure and intake policies
    • Collaborate with Kempe communication staff to develop, maintain/update and disseminate marketing materials as necessary for START
    Center Wide Role:

    • Support Director in analysis of program data for purposes of program development and improvement
    • Distribute and collect survey information from all consumers and end users
    • Maintain survey data for projects and Center wide metrics in Qualtrics or RedCap
    • Assist in preparation of annual reports to Sponsors and general public
    Salary and Benefits:

    The salary range has been established to be $44,526 -$62,336.

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, social sciences or a directly related field
    • 1 year of experience in a professional setting.
    Substitution: A combination of education and experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis

      2 year of experience in child mental health or social work or medical administration or support field related to the work assigned to the position.2 years of experience coordinating clinical programs or providing technical assistance to improve clients' health or wellbeing
    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1 year experience in program development
    • 1 year experience in training support
    • 1-3 years experience working with students, staff, and faculty, within a higher education and/or academic medical environment.
