Job Description:

Manages input into Florida Museum’s Digital Asset Management system; receives, prepares, tracks, and returns materials submitted for imaging. Researches and implements solutions to improve users’ ability to search the database by adding descriptive keywords into the DAM system and Adobe Lightroom.

Operates a variety of imaging tools for use in the transfer of images or text to digital/electronic files or archives. Scans slides and prints using the best equipment available to create the highest quality, most accurate file possible. Reviews original and scanned materials to ensure quality control. Validates or performs corrections to images.

Uploads new photos into appropriate management system for dissemination, adding keyword tags and captions when necessary. Validates or performs corrections to images as needed. Adds historic images to the Cumulus database.

Performs regular review and maintenance of DAM system, reviewing archived materials for accuracy of keywords and captions and updating or removing as needed.

Provides input into imaging and document management workflow. Creates a SOP manual of best archiving methods and procedures. Performs indexing, optical character recognition, batch processing or other document management activities.

Maintains, sets up, troubleshoots and repairs imaging equipment as necessary.

Maintains archival photo collection. Cleans dust and scratches off the older, heavily used photos, both scans and

prints, and adjusts the scans for basic tone and color balance. Organizes and cares for the older prints.

Attends department meetings and engages in professional development opportunities as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and six months of related clerical/customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of photography and database management.
  • Skilled user of computers and digital imaging tools including scanners.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products including Lightroom, Photoshop and other scanning software and Digital Asset Management software programs strongly preferred (specifically Canto Cumulus or similar).
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community, and to be part of a team process.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to process large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy.
  • Museum experience preferred.
