Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: provide leadership, direction, and oversight of the Palouse Knowledge Corridor’s operations including fiscal management, regional marketing activities, business and regional engagement activities and organizational administration. Position shall be accountable for developing resources to sustain staffing, organizational planning in coordination with the board of directors, and representation of the Knowledge Corridor in efforts to create economic opportunities on the Palouse by matching innovation with opportunity, promoting the assets of the Palouse and fostering collaborative efforts with universities, private sector, economic development agencies, and governments.


Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.

  • Experience leading efforts to coordinate activities and communicates interests across a diverse set of organizations and constituencies.

  • Demonstrated experience with oral presentation, and written communication.

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies and community members is essential.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership/management skills.

  • Proven experience and strong working knowledge of policy and program development, manage departmental budgets, and developing and executing short- and long-term plans.

  • Demonstrated success in program and service development.

  • Previous experience supervising and leading a team or unit.

  • Proven ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grantsmanship and/or fundraising.

  • Previous work experience in economic development.

  • Previous entrepreneurship experience.

  • Previous business development experience in a technical field related to agriculture, cybersecurity or energy.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
