Annual training is required by the Department of Education for all personnel who have been designated as a Campus Security Authority.

The Department of Counseling Services is seeking one or more Staff Psychologist(s) to assist students in defining and accomplishing personal and academic goals. To provide counseling, including on-call crisis intervention and outreach, to assist students in overcoming specific personal, educational or behavioral problems that interfere with healthy living and success at the University. To support the development of students by helping students enhance their growth potential and thereby benefit from their academic and social environment. To offer responsive and supportive clinical services that addresses conditions that may negatively influence student welfare and to initiate interventions that will neutralize such conditions.

1. Provide brief individual and group counseling.
2. Provide on-call crisis response intervention, and consult with and for students in need.
3. Work collaboratively within the division, university and community to build an adaptive and responsive mental health and crisis response service delivery system.
4. Actively participate in events and assigned duties that support the mission of the division and university.
5. Provide consulting and educational outreach concerning student issues related to counseling, healthy student development and behavior management in the classroom and campus community.
6. Contribute to the office training program(s) as a clinical supervisor to graduate level trainee(s).
7. Support student adjustment and development in the university community through appropriate student development programs and services.
8. Educate professional staff and others in anxiety management, suicide and self-harm, substance use, sexual assault, diversity appreciation, crisis intervention and other topics as needed.
9. Develop and maintain very positive and professional customer service and relations with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, administrators, other employees, other agency personnel and community members. Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Fully supports the “Student’s First” value at CNU and routinely go the extra mile in providing service. Complete all work in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
10. Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absence.
11. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to support office functions and services.

Knowledge concerning individual and group counseling theory and practice. Skills in providing individual and group counseling. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong abilities in counseling, consultation, outreach programming and communication.

Knowledge concerning counseling those who are victims of sexual assault and those who are at-risk for suicide. Knowledge of principles of consultation. Knowledge of student development. Skills in providing individual and group counseling to special populations including victims of sexual assault, those who are at-risk students for suicide and substance abuse. Skills in training program management and supervision. Ability to plan, manage, and administer concurrent programs meeting a variety of needs.

Must possess a doctoral degree in clinical psychology or counseling psychology or a related discipline by start date into the position. Must have course work and appropriate training in individual and group counseling, sexual assault and response, suicide assessment, psychological theories, abnormal psychology or psychopathology, and standards of ethical practice.

Course work and training in psychological assessment, learning disorders, diversity and inclusion, substance abuse, and providing supervision.

Experience in providing individual or group counseling. Experience in crisis counseling and intervention to include on-call and emergency hospitalization procedures.

Experience in providing individual and group counseling in a college/university setting. Experience in providing counseling and outreach services. Experience in providing training programs for resident advisors and Greek populations. Experience in behavioral management techniques to assist students experiencing difficulty in adjusting to the University environment.
