Organizational Unit Overview:

Laupus Health Sciences Library provides information services and resources in direct support of ECU’s Division of Health Sciences Colleges and Schools, and all students, staff, and faculty therein. Laupus Library also provides expert consultations with professional librarians and staff for a variety of information, research support, and instructional support needs.

The Laupus Health Sciences Library Access Services department is responsible for overseeing the circulation of Laupus Library materials, operates a reserve collection for course support, maintains, manages, and circulates the library’s audiovisual collection including videos, audio cassettes, anatomical models, slides, charts, microfilm, etc.

Job Duties :

Service Desk: Provide excellent customer service while assisting patrons at the library Service Desk. Assistance may include but is not limited to checking library items in and out of circulation, basic clerical work, answering telephones, troubleshooting basic computer or software questions and/ or problems which may frequently involve helping patrons at the computer workstations in the Reference area, accepting payments for fines or fees for services, providing basic assistance for patrons in need of finding books, renewing library checked-out materials, accessing research databases and other online library resources. Provides general reference assistance and refers patrons to the appropriate liaison when necessary.
Billing Manager: Responsible for processing Circulation notices using the ILS. Responsible for tracking notices distributed to patrons as needed (overdue notices, fines, recalls, etc.), and managing unpaid invoices. Maintains accurate records for future audits. Documents daily cash receipts on the monthly ledger, balances daily cash register against Symphony reports, creates quarterly and fiscal year end accounts receivable reports, collaborates with Academic Library Services and various other ECU departments regarding billing practices for the Library. This includes documenting and enforcing billing procedures across all ECU Libraries, updating Laupus Library billing-related SOPs.

Minimum Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation:

None

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Completion of a bachelor’s degree; proficiency with Microsoft Office; collections experience; experience assessing fees (especially interest and/or penalties) and processing payments in all formats; understanding of General Ledgers; understanding of accounts receivable; two years of library work experience; knowledge of library series and systems such as Symphony and ILLiad.

License or Certification required by the Department:
