Description
The Equipment Technician in the School of Theater, Film and Media Arts provides proactive direct management for the logistics, functionality, and safe storage of all FMA film student and faculty equipment check-out orders using online system WebCheckout and logistics for pick-up and return to the equipment room for 16mm/Super16/35mm film, video, digital cinema, audio, and new media production. Coordinates all ancillary media supplies. Provides inventory of all equipment twice a year. Creates, disseminates, and updates all equipment and film/video production health, safety, and cleaning protocols. Schedules and provides in-classroom equipment demos for faculty. Creates training program, instructions, and oversight of work study students who assist with physically locating and providing FMA equipment during the day to day check-in/check-out process in the Equipment office. Provides FMA Student Equipment Handbook digitally for faculty and student access. Coordinates all repairs and replaces orders with Senior Equipment Engineer. Provides support for additional TV studio hours as scheduled. Sets strategic film equipment logistics and distribution goals and assists FMA administration in the implementation of these goals, in order to support and advance the FMA student programs and education process. Provides strategy and logistical planning for all FMA faculty and student equipment check-out and return via WebCheckout and on the ground in facilities. Coordinates, acquires, and configures all media supplies for FMA equipment including but not limited to, digital media, flash drives, SDHC cards, hard drives, film supplies, Blu-Ray, CDs, and DVDs. Provides daily oversight of FMA equipment logistics for check-in and check-out based on WebCheckout orders, oversight of all student workers ensuring correct, complete, and functional equipment packages are provided to students, and ensures that all returned equipment packages are complete, in working order, and well packaged for shelving. Documents and reports missing equipment for determination of theft, fines, replacement, and insurance purposes. Provides scheduling, coordination, communication/emails, and logistics for FMA BA/BFA and MFA thesis project packages with advanced cameras and equipment year-round. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Associates degree in Arts or Fine Arts and one-year of relevant experience working or assisting in an institutional, educational, or corporate environment coordinating film and video equipment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, students, and equipment vendors.
*Self-motivation and initiative to accomplish tasks.
*Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Thorough knowledge of digital cinema camera packages and builds (RED, Sony F7s, Sony Alpha, Arri Alexa Amira (or equivalent) with ability to inventory media, battery, and incidentals needs.
*Thorough knowledge of new media equipment (360 Cameras, Vive Headsets, Projectors, Screens, Monitors or equivalent) to inventory media, battery, and incidentals needs.
*Thorough knowledge of ancillary film equipment (tripods, monitors, moving camera gear, lighting, grip, lighting, wireless systems, location sound equipment) to inventory media, battery, and incidentals needs.
*Ability to efficiently multi-task.
*Ability to assist and work with others in a day-to-day office and technical environment.
*Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Excel database, Adobe Creative Suite.
*Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.
*Ability to develop basic training materials, workshops, and provide supervision to student workers.

Preferred:
*Experience with online checkout system “WebCheckOut.”
*BA/BFA degree
