Description
The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications manages and directs the daily marketing and communications operations for the Boyer College of Music and Dance. In keeping with the strategic plan of the Boyer College, sets goals, priorities, and strategies; directs and develops significant internal relationships and maintains key contacts with University offices and departments, local, regional and national media. Additional responsibilities include the development and maintenance of electronic media strategies and campaigns, serving as key administrator for the Boyer website, and overseeing social media efforts. Oversees the design, printing, and mailing of event promotional materials. Assists in the development of strategic communications plan(s) to address the ongoing needs of Boyer and raises the image and status of its programs, faculty, and students.


The Assistant Director oversees recital operations, schedules student and faculty recitals, master classes and ensemble performances for the college. Supervises the department Program Specialist in all other recital operations responsibilities. Other primary responsibilities include managing occasional external rentals of Rock Hall and overseeing box office and ticketing for off-campus ticketed performances, including events at the Kimmel Center and New York City venues. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related experience in marketing, public relations or electronic communications with a music and/or performing arts organization or school/college of music. Experience with project management, content planning, and creation, working in social media, and developing integrated marketing communications plans. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to generate promotional/marketing materials.
*Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of artistic directors, graphic designers and media personnel.
*Strong supervisory skills.
*Demonstrated organizational skills, along with the ability to be detail-oriented and multi-task efficiently.
*Ability to think strategically with regard to marketing and communication needs, graphic design determination, and community outreach plans.
*Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, Google applications and Adobe Creative Suite.
*Ability to work a flexible schedule, as required.

Preferred
*Marketing experience in the arts (particularly pertaining to music performances).
*Background in music and/or dance.
*Familiarity with musical vocabulary and repertoire.
*Experience in higher education environments.
