Description
We are seeking to recruit Academic Advisor III’s to conduct individual and group student academic advisement, to assist departments/units with verbal or written academic plans, transfer articulation and to interpret and implement university policies and procedure in the areas of student enrollment and evaluation. We are searching for staff who can find ways to continue to improve some the fastest growing graduation rates in the nation. Successful candidates for this position must be dedicated to student success with a high attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

 

Examples of duties:

  • Evaluates and advises on academic programs and progress of students.

  • Coordinates and communicates with faculty on academic program changes or updates.

  • Assesses college's compliance with Board of Regents degree requirements.

  • Trains and supervises staff and/or student assistants.

  • Provides and/or oversees graduation checkouts and audits management for the college.

  • Maintains and updates current student records on information system.

  • Performs admissions and recruitment functions for college.

  • Performs other advanced academic advisement duties as assigned by college.

  • Teaches or co-teaches orientation classes.

  • Serves as an advisor to a specific college or academic unit. Represents academic advising units on college and university committees.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of college and University training for advisement personnel.

  • Plays a leadership role in monitoring and tracking the retention, progression and graduation of all students within assigned population through the use of predictive analytics.

  • Serves as lead worker for program(s) that require coordination -Incept, social media, transfer articulation, joint enrollment, early alert, key dependency, degree works, banner, transition, graduate student admission requirements, EAB, etc.

  • May assist in reviewing student petitions.

  • May handle course authorizations for students.

  • May conduct informational sessions for an academic department.

  • We will hire multiple advisors from this announcement.  We are looking for staff for all locations – Atlanta, Alpharetta, Decatur, Dunwoody, Clarkston and Newton.

    The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

    The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
