Job Summary/Basic Function

This is a para-professional position reporting to the Director of Student Involvement. The Student Involvement GA participates as a member of the Student Involvement staff, assists with engagement and leadership opportunities for students and student leaders through programming, leadership development and experiential learning opportunities, and demonstrates a strong focus within student organization training and support. This position is responsible for the organization, and leadership for student activities and programming, assist with supervision of CSE student workers, management of administrative operations and collaborating with professional staff on student organization leadership and development, and social media and marketing.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Advising and Supervising:
• Assist in the supervision and development of CSE student workers
• Supports student engagement programming and leadership opportunities and assists with program development, implementation, collaboration with professional staff and event coverage

Program Support, Development and Implementation, Engagement and Leadership:
• Develops and coordinates student organization program support and training for 125+ student organizations
• Collaborates with professional staff and Office of University Events, and other departments as well as key faculty/staff advisors for student organization success and growth
• Assist with the planning, facilitation and administration of the Summit On Leadership Development (SOLD) an annual leadership conference in partnership with area University/Colleges
• Coordinates to provide content, branding and programming for the Keith Lovin Institute for Leadership and Values

Staff Member:
• Assist in the daily operations, training, development and management of Center for Student Engagement workers and operations within Student Involvement and Student Life, including Donius University Center area.
• Coordinate with Program Coordinator to provide oversight and scheduling assistance of student workers
• Participate in all training and development sessions for student workers.
• Responsible for collaborating with the Office of University Events to assist with student organization event and meeting planning as it relates to securing facility space on specific dates and times as needed or requested.
• In conjunction with professional staff assist in the development and training of student organization leaders, faculty/staff advisors.
• Assist in the coordination and selection of student leaders for experiential leadership opportunities throughout the academic year and to the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) Regional & National Conference.
• Coordinate with professional staff on the social media and marketing campaigns for Student Involvement and GetInvolvedMU platform and CORQ app.
• Attend Student Involvement meetings, training sessions, retreats, and planning sessions as deemed necessary.
• Promote and support the growth of student organizations, engagement and leadership opportunities for all students
• Assist with campus wide programs through collaboration with Resident Life, Diversity & Inclusion and other departments within the campus community as assigned.
• Contributes to the achievement of enrollment goals by designing programs that contribute to the recruitment and retention of students and by assisting other departments with enrollment-related initiatives.
• Maintain positive communications with students, student leaders and faculty/staff advisors in the Center for Student Engagement and throughout the campus community.
• Partners with other Student Life Staff as indicated and seeks out opportunities to work with others
• Maintains a high profile at student programs, athletic events and campus initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Strong commitment to ethnic and cultural diversity
• Exemplary skills in student engagement, leadership and development, and student organization programming and implementation, and social media and marketing skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• High level of competency in the use of technology to accomplish the above goals

Academic Program Assigned:
• MBA or Strategic Communication

Graduate Assistant Agreement:
• Annual stipend: $3000
• Tuition remission: 12 credits per year
• Expected hours of work per week: 20
