The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time, non-exempt Financial Associate in the Department of Business Analytics and Statistics.  Reporting to the Assistant Department Head, the Financial Associate functions as a vital member of the department's administrative support team serving as accounting manager and bookkeeper for department's financial processes.




  • Manage all budget and financial processes for department including budget preparation, forecasting, and analysis
  • Collaborate with department leadership on annual budget preparation process
  • Monitor and reconcile all departmental ledgers
  • Process all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement card transactions
  • Complete, keep current and timely submit all payroll documents
  • Coordinate with department faculty and OSP to accurately manage post-award sponsored-project accounting
  • Track and compile funding and expenditure data and provide status reports and analysis to department leadership
  • Proactively identify and inform Department Head of potential budget issues and recommend solutions
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Organize and maintain department records
  • Provide customer service, reception, calendar management and other administrative duties as assigned in collaboration with other staff


 Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in bookkeeping, accounting, financial management, or related field

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least 5 years in a position requiring similar bookkeeping/accounting/financial management/administrative skills.


  • Knowledge of financial, bookkeeping, and accounting principles, procedures and systems
  • Advanced computer skills including ability to quickly learn new software systems
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to use tact and discretion when dealing with a variety of issues
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to protect and maintain confidential information


  • Experience with SharePoint and Google Drive
  • Experience with Pivot Tables
