Regular Full-time, Market Range 07The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the Alcohol & Other Drug Coordinator position for the Center for Health Education & Wellness (CHEW). This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position. Staff are actively engaged in the lives of our students, living and learning with them in our residence halls, student union, and other campus environments. The Department: The Center for Health Education & Wellness (CHEW) empowers all Volunteers to thrive by cultivating personal and community well-being. CHEW aims to fulfil this mission by helping the UT community prioritize holistic wellness. The Position: Reporting to the Associate Director of the Center, the primary purpose of the position is to mobilize, create and sustain campus-wide health practices in order to foster an environment that promotes student success and personal development, by using universal, selected and indicated prevention strategies to reduce negative outcomes from alcohol and other drug use among University of Tennessee students. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate, develop, market, implement, and evaluate prevention programming and events related to alcohol and drugs to meet the diverse and unique needs of the University of Tennessee community; Review research data, guidelines, and campus policy to ensure prevention education is in alignment with national trends; Contribute to the development of strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for prevention services; Incorporate multicultural diversity and social justice concepts and principles into health promotion services; Teach alcohol & other drug section of Vols 2 Vols Peer Health Education training course.Create and sustain partnerships with department units, including Student Counseling Center, Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life, Student Health Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, Center for Student Engagement, University Housing, Student Disability Services, University of Tennessee Police Department, Office of Title IX, and UT Athletics. Manage alcohol and drug prevention social media content by designing and developing monthly social media plans, creating and posting images, and monitoring, moderating and responding to audience comments.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year of experience working in alcohol and other drug prevention and/or intervention
- Knowledge of public health promotion, prevention, and health equity;
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
- Knowledge of student development theories and culturally relevant wellness models;
- Broad cultural competence skills and awareness of intersectionality of identities;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse social identities, including persons of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and persons with disabilities;
- Ability to present to small and large groups;
- Ability to review literature and apply theory-based and evidence-informed prevention strategies
- Master’s Degree in education, sociology, women’s studies, human services, social work, public health, or related field.
- 1 year of experience in a higher education setting.
