General Summary

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Illinois State University invites applications for a full-time, one-year faculty position in Italian, at the rank of lecturer or instructional assistant professor (depending on qualifications). The successful candidate will teach multiple elementary and/or intermediate Italian courses. This position is represented by the Illinois State University Education Association and may have associated dues or fees.

Required Qualifications

1. Master's degree in Italian or closely related field by start date of appointment.
2. Prior teaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
3. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
4. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.

Desired Qualifications

Candidates able to teach courses on intermediate Italian language, composition, and advanced grammar are particularly encouraged to apply.

Varies depending on class hours and office hours.

Classes for the 2021-22 academic year are planned for in-person delivery, though the successful candidate must be able to teach online synchronous classes if public health guidelines dictate the need to do so.
