Mental Health Aide assists the Staff Nurse and Therapists, in providing delegated tasks on the nursing unit. Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly work area.Qualifications:
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) Certification by Ohio Department of Health required at the time of application. 3. Ability to write legibly, speak articulately, and follow directions accurately. 4. Ability to plan and organize work and to work under supervision. Willingness to accept responsibility for patients in their care when performing delegated functions of this position and to perform delegated duties in accordance with established methods and procedures. 5. CPR certification / Basic Life Support is required. 6. Will be required to work some weekends and holidays. 7. May be required to rotate shifts and units. 8. Physical requirements: a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable; b. ability to hear (with or without aides) c. ability to orally communicate d. good manual dexterity e. ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally f. ability to stand, walk frequently g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently; and h. ability to perform CPRWorking Conditions:
Working conditions include but are not limited to an environment of high stress where exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious agents, unpleasant odors, limited space, dust and fumes, variations in environmental temperature, hazardous chemicals, loud noise, radiation risk, laser exposure, physically demanding workloads, heavy lifting of at least 30 pounds but often more. Many repetitive activities and motions such as bending, standing and walking for extended periods of time are required. Some risk of verbal, physical and emotional aggression may be experienced.
