The purpose of the Laboratory Technologist is to coordinate laboratoryand field experiences within the Environmental Sciences and Biological Sciencesdepartments. This person is responsible for ensuring a consistent and highquality lab, field and other experiential activities for our students. Thecoordinator is the interface between undergraduate students, the graduateteaching assistants, faculty ‘instructors of record’ and the department chairs.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology or Geology.
Master’s degree, preferred
Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate students, required
Valid driver’s license, must be insurable under the university driving policy, and able to drive 15-passenger vans.
Experience in instructional laboratory situations, preferred
Excellent technical laboratory and computer skills
Communication and other skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with faculty, undergraduate and graduate students.
Must have the ability to, as well as meet, the requirements to complete and maintain mandatory training per the University mandatory training policy pursuant to the deadlines set forth therein.
This position will work in a variety of different environments including different labs and outdoor locations. Position will require sitting and computer use for long periods of time, also intermittent standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting. Position may require occasional lifting up to 50lbs. This position may require some evening and weekend work hours as well as some travel.
