The Duke Interdisciplinary Behavioral Research Center (IBRC) is a large interdisciplinary research facility serving faculty and students in psychology, political science, marketing, sociology, behavioral economics, and other social and behavioral sciences. The IBRC is part of the Social Science Research Institute. It is available to any Duke researcher conducting social and behavioral research. The IBRC provides the infrastructure (laboratory space),equipment (laptop, software, cameras), support (training, research assistant program), participant access (community participants pool), and limited funding to facilitate social and behavioral research. Research Program Description:
The research project Center for the Psychological Study of Religion and Spirituality (CPSRS), directed by Dr. Patty Van Cappellen at Duke University seeks a full-time research coordinator/data technician. The initial appointment would be for one year. The research coordinator/data technician will work closely with the PI to perform the research activities of a grant-funded project titled: “The Embodiment of Worship: Relations Among Postural, Psychological, and Physiological Aspects of Religious Practice.” For more information on PI’s research, see her website: www.pattyvancapp ellen.com. This position is ideal for individuals who wish to pursue research in the future. The research coordinator/data technician has the opportunity to be involved with scientific presentations at conferences and the writing of journal manuscripts in collaboration with Dr. Van Cappellen .
·Assist in designing and running a series of experiments with human subjects related to a grant-funded project.
·Assist in collecting and analyzing data.
·Create and maintain a lab website and managing media outreach.
·Assist in general administrative activities as requested including planning lab meetings.
·Clean and analyze data (includingpsychophysiology data)
·Assist in writing manuscripts.
·Maintain IRB records.
·Train a team of undergraduate researchers.
Work requires a bachelor's degree in a field related to the specific position.
