This job provides unique learning opportunities that lead you to personal success. You’ll gain intensive experience in communicating across cultures, facilitating learning through communication and engagement, solving problems, answering complex questions, and effectively communicating complex concepts in simple terms. This position will empower you with new interaction and leadership strategies, interpersonal skills, such as patience and empathy, and time management skills. For students in the University Honors Program, this position counts as a teaching/tutoring honors experience. Not to mention, this job will make your résumé more competitive.
ELLWC consultants take a three-credit intensive training course (ENG 481/581) in Fall 2021 (Monday/Wednesday 10:05-11:25). This course counts toward the Linguistics and the Professional Writing majors as well as the Rhetoric/Writing minor. In Spring 2022, consultants will engage in ongoing professional development through a one-hour biweekly seminar on Wednesday from 6-7pm.
ELLWC consultants work approximately 5 hours per week during day time, evening, and weekend hours. The initial pay rate is $8:95.
As an ELLWC consultant, you have the opportunity to conduct research and present at writing center conferences in the U.S. Your conference registration and travel expenses will be covered.
