About the Department:

The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. This position is in support of the NC State Men’s Division 1A Basketball program that competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Essential Job Duties:

This position reports to the Men’s Basketball Head Coach. This position works closely with the men’s basketball coaching staff, Director of Men’s Basketball Operations, Director of Men’s Basketball Player Personnel, and other men’s basketball support staff in the overall direction of a successful, Division I men’s basketball program. Responsible for technical men’s basketball analysis, strategic research and development, detailed game planning, and related activities. Directly supervises Assistant Director of Video Services and assigned student staff. Assists with recruiting activities and other men’s basketball program functions, as permitted by NCAA rules and policies governing non-coaching staff members.

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create detailed scouting reports on opponents for each game for use by men’s basketball coaching staff and student-athletes in weekly game preparation;
  • Create and analyze self-scouting reports on NC State following each game for use by men’s basketball coaching staff and student-athletes in weekly game preparation;
  • Review and analyze opponents’ game personnel and create analytic reports for use by men’s basketball coaching staff and student-athletes in game preparation;
  • Collect in-game statistical data, analyze in real-time, and share key metrics and trends with men’s basketball coaching staff for in-game application;
  • Supervise the Assistant Director of Video Services and assigned student staff;
  • Assist the men’s basketball coaching staff and men’s basketball support staff with recruiting efforts, as permitted by NCAA rules and policies governing non-coaching staff members;
  • Meet regularly with men’s basketball coaching staff to review and analyze profiles, evaluation forms, and other information pertaining to prospective student-athletes;
  • Assist in coordinating and monitoring daily schedules of men’s basketball student-athletes, which includes classes and academic commitments, practice and conditioning, community service, etc;
  • Attend all practices, team meetings, games, and other team functions, as requested and permitted by NCAA rules and policies;
  • Coordinate responsibilities with graduate assistants, undergraduate students, and other men’s basketball staff members, as requested and assigned;
  • Present/speak to large audiences at team meetings, recruiting functions, etc. as permitted by NCAA rules and policies governing non-coaching staff members;
  • Manage special projects as assigned by the men’s basketball coaching staff;
  • Additional duties as assigned by the men’s basketball coaching staff.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year working with collegiate men’s basketball program.
  • Proficient with Sportscode software.
  • Analytic skills, computer and video system literacy and expertise, technical men’s basketball knowledge, strong organizational and motivation skills, and excellent oral and written skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working in Division 1 Collegiate Basketball.
