Summary of Duties
The Banner Programmer / DBA works as part of a team providing programming and project support for Enterprise Applications including the Ellucian Banner ERP system and the connecting suite product integrations such as Degree Works, Recruit, Advice and Mobility as well as other 3rd party application integrations.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintenance of the Banner Oracle Database including upgrades to both Banner and Oracle products.Design & development of enterprise back-end database applications based on requirements and under the guidance of IS senior management team.Install Ellucian Banner software patches in Banner, ESM, SSO, Ethos and Oracle database instances.Work with System Administrators to manage and update Linux / Windows OS environments related to Banner products.Research and aid in implementing enhancements to existing items that require modernization. In conjunction with the Senior Banner Administrators, research and integrate design strategies, product specifications, development schedules, and user expectations into product capabilitiesResolve complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations. Prepare design and development documents for assigned projects. Perform analysis, development and maintenance of standards and metadata. Participate in meetings with various leads to understand requirements and build a robust design that meets the needs of the college.Perform query optimization, debugging and tuning to improve performance. Aid in the development of best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of code. Establish and monitor data quality initiatives as determined by the program. Interact with customers, functional teams, and development team to gather and define requirements and help build relational data models. Collaborate in team environment and develop new solutions within a culture that embraces standard processes and delivery of high-quality solutions. Works closely with other database and systems administration staff to maximize function and effectiveness of enterprise applications. Serve as a member of the College Shared Governance process and other committee as assigned to provide subject matter expertise for information technology at the college, especially for Ellucian Banner related products and processes. Assist in identifying Ellucian Banner software patches and releases in Oracle database / Linus OS environment. Assist in user support and training activities.Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills & Abilities
Preferred:Experience with student information systems/databases, preferably with Ellucian Banner Software.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's Degree of a Science in Computer Science or related experience.
