Summary of Duties
The Assistant Systems Programmer/Network Analyst will work as part of a team of professionals with comprehensive responsibility for support and management of Rhodes State’s enterprise network and core computing systems. This position is responsible for all functions associated with the efficient implementation and maintenance of Windows/Linux Servers and network infrastructure applications as directed by the Director of Information Systems. Duties may include working at multiple locations throughout the workweek. Due to the nature of managing systems, some early morning, evening, and weekend hours will be required.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist with classroom technology and equipment issues including Extron system controls, audio video controls, camera’s, projectors, printers, podium setups, monitors etc.Communications support with Teams, Zoom, video capture and recording products. Assist with managing student workers at secondary site location in providing IS helpdesk services. Work with IS Systems Administrators to support primary applications and associated Windows / Linux servers’ and network infrastructure. Support possibly includes upgrades, updates, daily maintenance, security, plans for future growth, troubleshooting hardware and software, performance and reliability, backup and recovery, and end-user support. Work directly with the senior team members within IS to assist in the support and management of infrastructure processes consisting of routers, switches, firewalls, file, print, Exchange, VMware, web, SAN, and other various technologies. Assist with the enterprise backup and recovery process.Comply with the organization’s architectural standards and implement quality improvement activities. Provide service to end-users through hardware, software, and administration support and training activities. May be called upon to support end-users in labs and offices as well as through help desk activities. Assist in the review, identification and presentation of hardware and software applications to ensure that the technology capabilities are responsive to the needs of the College. Work closely with the Information Systems team members on technical implementation issues.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and standards in order to identify areas for future development or enhancement. Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills & Abilities
Required: Minimum of five years’ experience in daily maintenance of servers and infrastructure applications, or the equivalent in education and experience in demonstrated expertise. Advanced working skills with Windows / Linux servers, operating systems and related technologies, including backup technologies, performance measurement and management, security, patching, backups and system management.Must be able and willing to perform enterprise system administration tasks as both a primary and secondary responsibility. Demonstrated ability to prepare project plans and proposals. Knowledge of policies and procedures used in IT and how they affect assigned systems. Must be able to be responsive to customer needs and organize projects. Must possess a high sense of urgency regarding response to any faults associated with server related resources. Strong communication and critical thinking skills; a self-motivator, an appreciation for working with diverse individuals, minimal supervision, and an interest in lifelong learning.
Preferred: Extron Certification (can be acquired after hired).Knowledge of virtualization and SAN technologies.Experience with Office 365 applications.Experience with Intune or System Center. Experience with Microsoft SQL server administration. Experience with Audio Video Equipment a plus. Knowledge of Office 365 administration.
Education & Certifications
Minimum of an Associate Degree in a technology field required.
