Lecturer - Biochemical Engineering Laboratory - Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a full-time lecturer who will serve as a Biochemical Engineering Laboratory Instructor with an expected start date of July 1, 2021.
The position will share responsibility for the effective operation of the CHM ENG 170L Biochemical Engineering Laboratory and related operations in the Biomolecular Engineering curriculum. The CHM ENG 170 A, B, and L series of courses is designed to introduce the essential concepts of bioprocessing to chemical engineers for applications in the biopharmaceutical, industrial biotech, and food tech industries. The emphasis of the 170A lecture course will be on cells and how to make products by designing unit operations and processes around those living systems. The focus of the 170B lecture course will primarily be on the recovery, separations, and purification of bio-based products. The 170L laboratory will provide hands-on opportunities to translate fundamentals learned in 170A and 170B to meaningful applications. The combined curriculum provides a comprehensive biochemical engineering training and tool kit in the analysis, design, development, scale-up, and commercialization of biochemical processes and products.
ROLE
The Biochemical Engineering Laboratory Instructor will be responsible for design, preparation, demonstration, and supervision of laboratory experiments including:

Basic qualifications (must be met at time of application): Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) program.
Additional qualifications (must be met by start date): Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) and at least two years of technical and laboratory experience.
Preferred qualifications:
Salary commensurate with experience. This position is in a represented bargaining unit.
