Nature of Work:

A position as a Professional Research Assistant (PRA) is available within the Doll research laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Developmental Biology, at the University of Colorado Denver-Anschutz Medical Campus.The laboratory is broadly interested in the early development of the spinal cord, with focus on the specification and differentiation of oligodendrocyte lineage cells, myelin sheath growth, and the transport and local translation of mRNA in glia. This is a full-time (1.0FTE) position that will utilize molecular, biochemical, genetic, and in vivo approaches. This position is currently available for 1 year, there may be the possibility of extension depending on grant funding.

Examples of Work Performed:

- Provide general support to PI
- Maintain the laboratory and equipment in working and clean condition
- Maintain laboratory compliance to environmental health and safety regulations
- Genotype zebrafish embryos and larvae
- Perform PCR and restriction digests
- Perform immunoprecipitation assays
- Perform microscopic analyses
- Order reagents and materials
- Additional responsibilities related to position as assigned by PI

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $35,600 to $40,500.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation

Minimum Qualifications:

- B.S. or B.A. (or equivalent) degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology or a related field
- Previous hands-on laboratory research experience in the biological sciences. Part-time or summer research experience are acceptable and extensive educational experience (i.e. lab sections) as part of college coursework may also fulfill the requirement of professional work experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Conditions of Employment:

Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous lab experience with biochemistry, genetics or molecular biology
- Previous lab experience with animal husbandry
- Prior experience with methods including but not limited to PCR, cloning, immunoprecipitation, microscopy, etc.


- Attention to detail and exceptional organization
- Capacity for collaborative and independent work
- Competence with basic software and statistics
- Knowledge and ability to effectively utilize Good Laboratory Practice guideline
