Departmental Objective:

To empower students in the President’s Leadership Program (PLP) to recognize their leadership potential and to develop personal and social responsibility for the betterment of society through a four-year co-curricular leadership education experience.

Purpose of the Position:

This position is a critical front line staff member in the University’s signature program. It coordinates multiple projects and is often one of the first contacts to identify a student who may be struggling. Furthermore, this position is a resource in the PLP Office for current and prospective PLP students and their families, for faculty, staff, guests, and the public. The position will also provide administrative and programmatic support to the PLP office staff including the Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director, Coordinator, and the PLP University Fellows. Regular duties include procurement and business related initiatives; coordination of and communication with students, faculty, staff, and the public; efficient and responsive support of 7 full-time PLP staff members, and all PLP initiatives and programs.

Knowledge of bookkeeping practices including reconciling accounts, monitoring expenditures, and analyzing financial data

Preferred:

Demonstrated proficiency in Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite)

Ability to quickly learn departmental, divisional, university and state procedures

Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office software

Basic knowledge of a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) such as iModules, Millennium, Banner, SalesForce, Slate, etc.

Basic knowledge of Scholar (Blackboard)

Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia state procurement procedures

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Required: Experience in office management and administrative support duties. Experience using computer software programs like spreadsheets and word processing systems. Experience purchasing operational and/or event supplies. Experience working in a fast-paced, high-visibility office environment.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :

Education Preferred: Associate’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, education, human resources, or related field.

Experience Preferred: Experience using Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) or Google applications like GMail, Meet, Calendar, Chat Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and/or Forms. Experience working in an administrative or office role within an educational setting (college campus most preferable). Experience using a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) such as iModules, Millennium, Banner, SalesForce, Slate, etc.

Conditions of Employment:

This is a classified position. New and returning classified employees are required to complete a 12-month probationary period;
