The Human Resources Associate will assist with the human resources operations of the College of Arts and Sciences, by providing support to the Director of Human Resources and performing HR actions as needed and/or requested.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):
Serving as the College HR/Division Contact for assigned units, the HR Associate will coordinate, at the College level, the HR processes for hiring and reappointing FTE positions, research grant positions, affiliate appointments, dual appointments, time-limited positions, temporary employees (including providing assistance in processing TFACs and Adjuncts), and students.
For assigned units, employee will provide guidance to the HR Contacts with Summer ECOM processes and procedures and receiving approval at the College level for these actions. Other duties will include generating offer and reappointment letters, making photocopies of various documents, ﬁling, conducting research to process, complete, and submit various HR actions, updating several spreadsheets, etc.
Will review documents for accuracy and forward to the appropriate University Oﬃces for ﬁnal approval. Will assist the Director in reviewing and approving various human resources actions, including but not limited to, creating, updating, and/or reviewing position descriptions, reviewing and approving job requisitions, processing new hire actions.
In coordination with the Director, will provide assistance with all faculty review processes (third year review, tenure and promotion, post tenure review) to faculty and department staff.
Contribute to the overall success of the College of Arts and Sciences by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services; or equivalency.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in Higher Education Human Resources is preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft HCM and PeopleAdmin is also preferred.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of policies and procedures related to the University’s faculty personnel operations, faculty review processes, academic affairs (ACAF) as it relates to faculty, fiscal operations and general management techniques and principles. Ability to analyze and present idea in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Strong team player skills and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce. Must have writing skills sufficient to compose and edit a variety of documents using correct spelling grammar, and punctuation with the ability to pay close attention to detail and proofread work carefully. Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, in particular). Good organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions. Work requires initiative and independent judgment. Must be proactive and creative, identifying process improvement opportunities. Ability to maintain electronic and hard copy records and files for easy access and retrieval. Ability to possess thorough knowledge of University Policy and Procedures.
